Megan here helped my partner get a job to get fired three days later. If you have any felonies don't waste your time coming here, they'll hire you onto jobs before your background check goes through, said jobs that 'think you have a repetitive behavior,' and once you provide evidence that it isn't repetitive behavior then they 'don't accept the severity of your charges' and then you get fired three days later. If you have all the paperwork outlining my charges, Express Employment & the companies they provide employees to are responsible to do their due diligence and find you a good fit, including looking over your record PRIOR to hiring you. This place is embarrassing. You literally have ONE job.

Literally next day I was at their office filling out an aptitude test in the morning and then heading off to a job that covered my expenses until my job search was over. I recently engaged with the Vancouver office of Express Employment Professionals and encountered a deeply concerning experience. I provided two resumes showcasing both administrative and labor-intensive skills, expecting thoughtful consideration for job opportunities suited to my background. Unfortunately, the interaction left me feeling misunderstood and unfairly judged.

When asked about my work preferences, I took a moment to reflect and requested to skip the question temporarily. Instead of being given space to articulate my strengths, the response I received felt dismissive and generalized, suggesting that many people “love filing paperwork and being detail-oriented.” These examples did not resonate with my professional experience, and I honestly conveyed my perspective. Despite my effort to provide clarity, my honesty was misinterpreted as combative behavior. This interaction ended abruptly, and I was later informed that my behavior did not align with their clientele’s expectations, effectively blacklisting me from any future placements.

This treatment stands in stark contrast to the company’s stated values of integrity, people, teamwork, and building a better future. Express Employment Professionals also emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) as core principles. However, my experience raises questions about how these values are practiced in interactions with candidates. It felt as though my resumes and work history were overlooked, and assumptions were made without a fair opportunity to fully understand my capabilities.

I value integrity and transparency in any professional engagement. Being honest about one’s experience and preferences is essential for finding a truly compatible role. I am escalating this issue within the organization and to appropriate channels to ensure accountability and advocate for fair treatment of all job seekers. Employment agencies should embody their core purpose of helping people find good jobs and supporting businesses, while fostering confidence and inclusivity at every step.
