I rarely write reviews but I simply had to offer my .02 after my two month long experience with Dr. Vanessa. I came in for some very frustrating back and radiating nerve pain due to a herniated disc in my neck, and was seen on very short notice.

Before starting my treatment we sat down and methodically discussed my situation. I could immediately tell Dr. Vanessa has deep knowledge about her field and cares about her patients on a level that most healthcare professionals simply don’t. That became even more evident after noticing she was even open to texting me after hours about my case. I’m middle aged, have many years of experience with all kinds of doctors, and have rarely if ever seen this kind of personal attention from a medical professional.

What I didn’t expect was that Dr. Vanessa actually ended up becoming my advocate and “home base” for dealing with and recommending other providers for my situation: GP, physical therapy, MRI scan, neurologist, pain management doc, and medication advice. She was the one I always came back to for advice regarding all of this. She put me at ease and acknowledged what I was going through. It’s so rare to feel you have a true ally, dare I use the word friend, in the professional field when you’re going through something difficult.

Dr. Vanessa likes to take a whole-body and whole-lifestyle approach when treating your problem. It’s not just about the one thing you’re coming in for. She’s an excellent communicator and explains everything she’s doing and patiently answered all my questions, taking all the time I needed to address my concerns. And through the treatments, our conversations would cover vast topics that meandered outside of why I was there. The whole experience felt so personal, and I felt cared for in a way that was quite new to me. They also have a wonderful in-house massage therapist.

Dr. Vanessa is an all-around lovely person. I very highly recommend her and the office of Island City Chiropractic!
