South Philadelphia Community Acupuncture far exceeded my expectations for my first time having acupuncture done. From the second you walk in the space is comforting and inviting. Melanie was very kind immediately upon my arrival at the front desk and offered me a tour of the building while Lauren was finishing up with her previous client. Lauren was just as friendly and made the experience feel much less intimidating than I expected since I personally have a fear of needles. She was warm, welcoming, professional and very well educated and easy to talk to about what I was looking for in taking a different approach to chronic pain that I was initially nervous about. I look forward to returning for another acupuncture session with her! I would definitely recommend her practice to any of my friends or family looking for a more holistic approach to easing chronic pain.

I had never considered acupuncture until I had a very painful muscle knot on my shoulder blade which just wouldn’t resolve. That’s what first led me to Lauren at South Philly Community Acupuncture. From the first moment I met her, she put me at ease. The atmosphere she has cultivated at SPCA is warm, welcoming and soothing. Lauren listened carefully and even seemed to anticipate other symptoms connected to my initial complaint. Right away, I sensed I was in good hands. I’ve visited Lauren with a variety of issues since then, including the aftereffects of Parsonage-Turner Syndrome, chronic lower back pain, and the most bizarre of all—nerve jolts in my foot after a bout with COVID. These jolts felt like electrical shocks and were sudden and powerful enough that I didn’t feel like it was safe for me to drive. Lauren hadn’t encountered this condition before, yet she somehow figured out how to treat it. The jolts immediately lessened in intensity and were completely gone within a week. Lauren’s expertise never ceases to amaze me; her warmth and kindness always make me feel as though I’ve spent time with a good friend, not simply a health care provider.

I highly recommend Justine. I was experiencing severe sciatica pain, and felt vast improvement after the first visit. Justine administered acupuncture, time under a heat lamp, massage and cupping. Money spent taking care of the body is the smartest spent money in the world. This was my first visit to SPCA and will be the first of many. A+++

Recently I had a reiki session with Richie and had amazing results. Richie is very in-tuned to the emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of the body. I found the session eye opening and healing. Definitely will have another session and highly recommend it.
