The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis West County is a fantastic facility, truly state of the art! The entire team is amazing and very kind! I would like to give a special thanks to Brittany, Sara and Kate for helping my mother during her stay, giving useful recommendations and putting together a great game plan for her after discharge from the rehab.

Clean? Yes! Brand new facility that is very nice.

But if you or your family member are thinking about going here be prepared. Staff acts like they don’t care about anyone and don’t want to be there. Attitudes of staff, especially on weekends is horrible.
Need help? Be prepared to wait hours, maybe even days or there is a chance no one will respond to you at all..
caseworker was no help at all. Provided no support, no information regarding anything. Wouldn’t respond to emails until her supervisor was attached.
So disappointed with this place, would never recommend.

I had a family member who had to come here twice. The first time with excellent care, he was able to return home at probably about 75%. We would have loved for him to stay longer, but, you know, insurance. He had a more severe recurrence and ended up coming back. The staff was wonderful and worked with him and all of us to find the best "next step" placement for him. Every member of the staff was friendly and greeted us warmly as we walked through the halls. The nurses and techs were patient, understanding and knowledgeable. The pt/ot teams were awesome. He saw several over the course of his stays besides just his main therapist. From the front desk and admissions to the pharmacy, housekeeping and case managers, we truly felt like they were family. I almost hate to do this, in case I miss anyone, but special kudos to Morgan, Emma, Kris, Brittany, Izzy, Barb, Tyra, Immaculate, Sue, Alex, Lauren, Faith, Tia, Teresa, Angie, Jakayla and Patrick. Thank you all so much!

I give this place 2 stars because it’s new facility & most of the staff provide good patient care, however this place does not have a pleasant work environment. They require lots of agency staffing because they are short on nurses, which is understanding but they treat their agency staff members poorly. It’s hard to believe the facility manager is was allowed to be in such a position with just poor interpersonal skills, she has a very unpleasant attitude. I had to get my time card signed a couple times by her and both times I’ve had to ask her, she didn’t say anything at all, she took my phone with an attitude to sign my time card as if it was such a bother to her. When you greet her, she doesn’t even greet you back, although you are in her office, which is very uncomfortable & not the most welcoming feeling.
On night shift, one of the night managers told me I wasn’t allowed to take a 15 minute break and or have food delivered to eat on a 12 hour shift. Which I have done before working at this facility and I’ve also seen their own staff DoorDash food plenty of times. But because I’m agency, I was told “they don’t allow that” I just wish facilities had more appreciation for health care providers who come to a facility that is poorly staffed to try to help them out, instead of treating them different from their regular staff. I’ve worked with great techs before at this facility but they also have some techs who get upset with you for asking them to do simple task, to help out. At the start of my shift, I had a patient complain that the tech assigned to them has a tendency to ignore her call lights, and make her wait 13+ minutes to get on a bedpan. That same shift, I sat on the hall near all of my patients rooms, while the tech sat at the nursing station in the front, away from her patients with her head down most of the time I’d have to walk that way. For the entire 12 hour shift, I answered call lights, toilettes patients/put them on the bedpan, and refilled waters. The nurse tech did one round at the start of her shift & never once came down to check on any of her patients throughout the night, nor did she have the consideration to even refill waters in the morning; so in the morning my med pass, involved going up and down the hall getting my 7 patients water to take their meds as well. I asked this same nurse tech at 3 am if she could change a patients bloody sheets and she said she would, at 6:53am I went into the patients room and the sheets still hadn’t been changed, as she was sitting at the nursing station like she was all night. When I asked her kindly again if she could change the sheets, she got an attitude and said “I heard you the first time” 7 minutes prior to the end of the shift. This same morning, as I am slammed trying to finish last minute shift requirements, answering call lights, and still trying to pass my meds (being interrupted by having to go up and down the hall to get water for patients to swallow pills) the day shift charge nurse comes down the hall, after a patients light had been going off and rudely tells me I need to go get the call light, this one time I couldn’t drop what I was doing because I was busy. She never considered to ask if I needed help with anything, or even attempted to try to answer the call light herself. She came all the way down the hall to the patients call light that was going off, as I was getting prepared to go in that room to pass meds and “cluster care” to rudely tell me I need to answer the call light (that she was unaware that I have been answering all night) then proceeded to go back up the hall. At this point in the shift, I have no nurse tech. I was both nurse and nurse tech all night, and this lady had no knowledge of that before you rudely insinuated that I was ignoring call lights. I am behind on my med pass, because I am providing total patient care which takes away lot of time as a nurse. This facility was a nightmare to work at.

We cannot recommend more! EVERY. SINGLE. staff member, nurse, therapist, doctor, etc. was incredibly kind and thorough with explanations of my father’s progress and day to day. We always felt up to date and free to ask questions. The facility is incredibly clean and my father’s room was always well kept. Choosing a facility is a daunting task, especially after such a catastrophic event. Not a single hiccup or room for improvement. We will be forever grateful.

Therapist were fantastic and really pushed for intense therapy every day . A special thanks to Diane, who accomplished a huge task of getting my husband up and walking within three days. I also want to compliment all the people that worked in dietary their smiles and kindness overwhelmed me, and their menus were wonderful. It is a beautiful facility and the therapy gym is amazing . I truly believe One will always have to be an advocate for their family no matter what institution they’re in, and I think me being there 8 hours a day with my husband helped with his continuity of care. I highly recommend this rehab Institute For anyone who needs intense and dedicated therapy in order to recover.
